Bhubaneswar: In order to further ease the road communication between twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Odisha government has decided to construct another bridge over river Kathjodi.
According to sources, the bridge to be constructed over the river will connect Trisulia with Belview Square in Cuttack. The Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OB&CC) has invited tenders for the project. The state government has allocated Rs 220 crore for the project.
Manas Ranjan Sethi, Superintending Engineer, OB&CC told the media that the construction work of the bridge is likely to begin in September and has been targeted to be completed by the end of 2025. The bridge will have four lanes with footpaths and lighting facility, he added.
It may be noted that the existing 2.8-km Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Setu (bridge) over Kathjodi was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2017.
