Bhubaneswar: With another low-pressure area brewing over the Bay of Bengal, Odisha will receive more rainfall in the next 72 hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
The IMD, in a mid-day bulletin, said a shear zone, which runs across the cyclonic circulation associated with the well-marked low pressure area over south Chhattisgarh and adjoining south Odisha, has made the condition favourable for the system over the north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around September 11.
Under its influence, most parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places from September 10 afternoon.
Meanwhile, the well-marked low pressure area over south Chhattisgarh and adjoining south Odisha is likely to move towards westnorth-west in the next few days.
Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall at one or two places over Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Boudh, Balangir, Nuapada and Nabarangpur districts today.
Besides, there will be thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Dhenkanal in the next 24 hours.
Fishermen were advised against venturing into the deep sea of the north and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast as the surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph will make the sea condition rough to very rough.
