Another Low Pressure Likely Over Bay: Heavy Rain In Odisha Next Week; IMD Issues Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to encounter heavy rain next week as another low pressure is taking shape over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

An upper air cyclonic circulation is now over westcentral Bay of Bengal extending up to mid tropospheric levels, while another upper air cyclonic circulation lay over northern parts of Thailand and neighbourhood. The second upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to move west-north-westwards.

Under the influence of these two upper air cyclonic circulations, a low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 23, the IMD said.

In its midday weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued yellow warning and said thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada districts in next 24 hours.

Sept 23

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput.

2) Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nabarangpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Sept 24

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Rayagada.

Sept 25

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada.
