Srinagar: In another attack on Indian Army, terrorists attacked a convoy of vehicles in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch on Friday evening.

Two rounds of bullets were fired from a hilltop in Daradullian Khwadia area at the convoy, including the Commanding Officer’s vehicle, reported Republicworld.com.

Soldiers fired back at the attackers, but no injuries were reported.

The terrorists are believed to have escaped after the initial exchange of gunfire.

The Army has launched a massive search operation along with other security forces in the area.

The latest attack comes at a time when high-ranking officers, including Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command, are in Poonch to discuss and formulate strategies to deal with frequent terror strikes.

Three weeks ago, terrorists ambushed Army vehicles in Poonch’s Dera Ki Gali area, killing four soldiers leaving five injured. Friday’s attack took place 40 km from that location.

People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) had claimed responsibility for the attack in December, releasing pictures from the attack site and showing the use of sophisticated US-made M4 carbine assault rifles.

There were hardly any terrorism incidents in the Pir Panjal region of Rajouri and Poonch since 2003. But major attacks resumed from October 2021 and during the last seven months, 20 soldiers — including officers and commandos – have been killed.
