Bhubaneswar: In a daring robbery, over a dozen armed miscreants looted several passengers of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express train at gunpoint in Jharkhand.
According to sources, the incident took place late on Saturday night when the train was running between Latehar and Daltonganj stations.
Over 12 robbers armed with guns and other weapons stormed the S-9 coach of the express train and looted many passengers at gunpoint.
The miscreants took away gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, cash, and other valuables from the passengers. Some passengers also sustained grievous injuries after being attacked by the robbers.
The passengers created a ruckus after the train reached Daltonganj station and raised questions over the security arrangements. Tension prevailed at the station for some time. The train halted there for nearly two hours and left after the injured passengers were provided with first aid.
Passengers alleged that the incident took place because of the carelessness on the part of the RPF personnel.
