Bhubaneswar: International Odia Convention (IOC) in Thailand announced the first IOC Achievement Award-2024 for Odissi exponent Aruna Mohanty and globally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik.
In a statement, the convention said the two distinguished artists from Odisha will receive a cash award of Rs one lakh each. The awards will be presented during the 1st International Odia Convention-2024 being held in Pattaya, Thailand. Saturday.
Odia societies and individuals from 22 countries are participating in the two-day convention, being held on November 15 and 16, and contributing to this celebration, it said.
This landmark event aims to celebrate Odisha’s rich and ancient history in collaboration with countries across the world. “We will highlight our cultural heritage by commemorating the Boita Bandana festival, which coincides with Thailand’s Loy Krathong festival on the day of Kartika Purnima,” the statement said.
Expressing happiness over his selection for the award, Sudarsan Pattnaik said, “It is a great pleasure, and I thank the selection committee and organisers of the convention for recognising my work.
