Bhubaneswar: Arup Patnaik has been inducted as co-opted member to the House of Committee of Odisha Legislative assembly.
The former Mumbai Police commissioner will look into aspects of environmental pollution in the state, an official notification said.
Patnaik had fought the Assembly elections from Bhubaneswar constituency in April-May on BJD ticket and lost to BJP candidate and former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi by a margin of 23839 votes.
After joining BJD in April 2018, he was appointed executive chairman of State Youth Welfare Board and given the rank and status of a Minister of State.
