Bhubaneswar: Days after resigning as Delhi Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal vacated the CM’s residence on Friday.
Kejriwal and his family — wife, kids and aged parents — have moved to bungalow No. 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens’ Delhi.
Kejriwal’s new bungalow, located near the AAP headquarters, was officially allotted to Ashok Mittal, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab.
Several party workers including MPs, MLAs and councillors had offered their respective houses to Kejriwal. However, the former CM selected Mittal’s house.
“When he (Kejriwal) resigned as chief minister, I came to know that he had no place to stay… I invited him to be my guest at my Delhi residence, and it brings me great joy that he has accepted my request,” said Mittal.
Kejriwal was arrested in an alleged excise policy scam and confined to the Tihar Jail for over five months
The former Chief Minister said that he would be returning to the chief minister’s post only after obtaining a “certificate of honesty” from the Delhiites. The elections are scheduled for February, next year.
