Bhubaneswar: Senior Advocate and Advocate General of Odisha Ashok Kumar Parija has taken over as the Chancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University.
Parija, who took charge on September 29 after Prof. Ved Prakash completed his term, was welcomed by KIIT & KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta.
“Shri Parija is a renowned Odia person. In the capacity of Chancellor, he will advise the University for the next five years. KIIT Deemed to be University will continue its journey towards educational, research and all-round excellence with renewed vigour under the able leadership of Shri Parija,” said Dr Samanta.
Chancellor is an honorary position, so it will not hamper Parija’s work as Advocate General.
Parija is among the most respected advocates in the country with a long and distinguished service, spanning over 38 years. He was designated as a senior advocate by the Orissa High Court in 2003 and appointed Advocate General by Odisha government in 2019.
He served as Chairman of the Bar Council of India in 2011, and took several steps to improve legal education in India.
