Cuttack: The Orissa High Court was informed on Thursday that the ongoing repair work of the Natamandap and Jagamohan of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will be completed by April 30, this year.
Amicus Curiae M K Mohanty informed the High Court verbally that the ongoing work in these structures in the temple by the ASI would be over by April 30. The court then asked him to submit an affidavit in this regard within a week. Next hearing in this matter has been scheduled for the next week.
The Amicus Curiae also told the court that the beam design for repair works have already been finalised.
Earlier in November 2023, the High Court had expressed displeasure over the delay in the restoration work at the 12th century shrine in the pilgrim town and directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to start its work from November 16.
The court had also ordered that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will extend all necessary cooperation to the ASI in carrying out the restoration work.
The HC had also stated that the amicus curiae will monitor the repair work and submit reports every 15 days to the court.
