Cuttack: Several candidates, who appeared for the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) recruitment examination, moved the Orissa High Court on Saturday alleging irregularities in the selection process.

Petitions were filed in the court by some aspirants alleging irregularities in the ASO examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) as part of the selection process.

According to sources, the HC is yet to take up the petitions for hearing.

On November 7, the OPSC had declared the result of the written examination for selection of 796 ASO posts under the Odisha Secretariat Service. A total of 1104 candidates have made it to the provisional list for the posts and shortlisted for document verification and skill test.

Unhappy over the results, a large number of aspirants staged a demonstration outside the OPSC office in Cuttack on Thursday alleging irregularities in the selection process.

The OPSC, however, maintained in a statement that it follows a fair and transparent policy in the selection of candidates and this is being followed in letter and spirit in all examinations including ASO recruitment.
