Keonjhar: Police recently arrested 10 persons, including two minors, while allegedly hatching a plan to loot banks and ATMs in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
According to sources, they were nabbed during a raid in a forested area near Panchapokharia under Champua police limits. A country-made weapons, live bullets, swords and several bottles of liquor were seized from them.
Addressing a presser, Champua SDPO Vijay Kumar Malik said that a police patrolling team reached the spot following a tip-off. “The miscreants were in an inebriated state. They tried to flee on seeing the cops, who then chased and nabbed them. Two knives, three cricket stumps, five packets of chilli powder, four face masks and Rs 4,900 cash were also recovered from them,” he said.
Sources further said that they confessed to police about their plans to loot banks and ATMs during interrogation. Several cases are already pending against this gang led by Sipun Barik.
