Sambalpur: A couple in Sambalpur district would have been poorer by Rs 7 lakh, but were saved by the exemplary act of an auto-rickshaw driver who returned a bag full of gold ornaments they had forgotten in his vehicle.
According to reports, Yuvraj Behera and his wife, Chandrakanti Behera, had got down from a train at Khetrajpur railway station on the evening of June 6. They then took an auto from the station to their home near Remed Chhak.
The auto driver, Muhammad Azim, also returned home after dropping the couple. It was then that he noticed a bag left behind by the couple. He opened the bag and found it full of gold ornaments.
Azim immediately drove to the couple’s home and handed over the bag to them.
His praiseworthy act has certainly restored faith in humanity as it comes amid almost daily reports of snatchings and loot of gold ornaments.
