Bhubaneswar: With Babushaan-Prakruti-Trupti issue exposing drugs use by stars of Odia film industry, Kalinga Sena has decided to take up the cause with law enforcing authorities.
The allegation of Ollywood star Babushaan’s wife Trupti that her husband’s friend and actress was supplying drugs to him has shocked the Odia film lovers and people of Odisha. Kalinga Sena, an apolitical organisation, wants to cleanse Ollywood of the substance use, said its Odisha president Hemant Rath while speaking to a local TV channel.
Citing the example of Sushant Singh Rajput case, he said like Bollywood, drug menace has gripped Ollywood. “Sushant committed suicide because of drugs use. His friend and actress Rhea Chakraborty has admitted to be procuring drugs from Odisha. We don’t want the same thing to happen in Ollywood,” Rath said.
Drawing a parallel of Sushant and Babushaan case, he said, “There is a particular group in Ollywood which is not only using drugs but also peddling it among the actors. Trupti has alleged that Prakruti was directly supplying ganja to Babushaan. We have information that she is running the racket in Ollywood and providing ganja and heroin to the group.”
Stating that the details of the racket can be revealed, if police question the group, Rath said involvement of Babushaan and actress Prakruti in the racket should also be investigated.
He said Kalinga Sena will file a case at Kharvel Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar in this regard on Thursday. “We demand the police to take exemplary action against those responsible for the racket and cleanse Ollywood of drugs menace,” he added.
