Sambalpur: The 21st-day ritual of the infant girl, who was rescued from an abandoned borewell in a forest area of Odisha’s Sambalpur, was celebrated at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on Monday.
The doctors, nurses and other medical staff if VIMSAR attended the celebration and ‘Namkaran Utsav. They named her as ‘Bijayini’, who is recuperating at the SNCU of the VIMSAR.
The event was marked by cake cutting and sweets distribution.
It may be noted here that the baby was found dumped in the borewell at Laripalli under Rengali block on December 12 when she was just 2-day-old. The district administration with the help of the fire services personnel and ODRAF managed to rescue the girl after an 8-hour-long exercise.
The hospital authorities decided to name her Vijayini as she survived such a disaster. She was admitted to the SNCU at VIMSAR after being rescued. Initially, her condition was critical because of internal bleeding. A team of doctors was looking after her treatment round-the-clock.
Doctors then said that the baby had serious health complications arising out of her low weight and premature birth.
The Sambalpur district administration was keeping track of her health condition and provided all possible help.
