At least 10 pilgrims from Odisha have reportedly been stranded following suspension of Amarnath Yatra due to inclement weather and closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
According to some reports, the Odia pilgrims are among thousands held up along the highway as the authorities are not allowing movement towards the valley because of bad weather.
The Jammu-Srinagar NH has been closed since Saturday following intermittent rainfall. Moderate rainfall has also lashed Baltal and Pahalgam tracks, mostly used by the pilgrims to reach the shrine, news agency IANS reported from Jammu.
Over three lakh pilgrims have had darshan in the holy cave since the yatra started on July 1. However, heavy downpour has led to the suspension of the yatra from the three main base camps, news agency PTI said.
Pilgrims might face a tough ordeal ahead as the weather department has forecast more rain ahead, it said, adding, the sky is likely to become clearer from August 1 onwards.
Helicopter services to the cave have also been suspended because of the weather conditions.
