Bhubaneswar: The Khurda District and Sessions Judge court on Wednesday rejected the bail petition of former honorary secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), Asirbad Behera.

This is the second time the court has rejected Behera’s bail plea.

Behera was arrested from his residence in Cuttack on September 19 on the strength of a non-bailable warrant issued by the Special CBI CJM court. The CBI had framed a a charge-sheet against him in connection with the Artha Tatwa Group of Companies chit fund scam.

After his arrest, the CBI had produced him in the Special CBI CJM court on the same day. The court later remanded him to Jharpada Jail after rejecting his bail plea.

However, the jail authorities had admitted him to the Capital Hospital on September 23 after he reportedly fell ill.
