Bhubaneswar: Seven places in Odisha recorded temperature 40 degree Celsius and above on Monday.
According to evening bulletin of the Regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury rose particularly in western Odisha with 4 places from the region registering temperature above 40 degrees. Balangir was the hottest place with 41 degree Celsius. Baripada recorded 40.8, followed by Titilagarh 40.5; Talcher 40.2; Angul and Sonepur recorded 40.1 degrees each and Boudh 40 degrees, the bulletin stated.
A slight decline in temperature in the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was recorded on the day with both the places registering 37.2 degree Celsius each.
Seaside town of Gopalpur continued to record lowest temperature in the state at 30.7 degree Celsius.
The IMD forecast no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state during next 2-3 days. It will be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at a few places in Interior Odisha during next 2-3 days.
