Bhubaneswar: The ban on the bursting of firecrackers in Diwali on Saturday has substantially improved the air quality in Bhubaneswar.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) board put up by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) at the Master Canteen Square in the city shows that the air quality on the Diwali night was 249 micrograms.
According to the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), the AQI in the state capital in 2018 and 2019 on Diwali was 369 and 308 micrograms respectively.
To implement the air action plan in the city, BSCL has put up the AQI boards at the Master Canteen Square, Power House Square. PMG Square and Damana Square.
