Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Wednesday said that there will be a complete ban on the use of plastic items inside the temple premises from April 1.
Briefing the media after presiding over a meeting of the Chhattisa Nijog here, SJTA chief administrator Krishan Kumar said steps will be taken in this regard in consultation with the district collector.
The meeting also decided to impose a fine of Rs 500 on any person or sevayat for spitting inside the temple premises. “We had earlier issued a notice in this connection. Now, this will be strictly enforced to ensure a clean and hygienic environment,” he added.
Timely release of Mahaprasad for the devotees was also discussed, he added.
