Gajapati: Heavy rain in the last two days, following a deep depression, has inundated acres of farm lands in Odisha’s Gajapati district.
Following incessant rain in Gudari, Gunupur, Kutaguda, Mohana and Mahendragada under Kashinagar of the district, Bansadhara river is in spate with water level crossing the danger mark.
According to the sources, water in the river is flowing at 53.71 metre as against the danger mark of 53.60 metre.
At Kashinagar, 22 gates of Gotta Barrage have been opened to control the flood water. The sources said that 16,000 cusec per second of water is being released, with 15,000 cusec per second entering the barrage.
With rivers overflowing, flood water has submerged roads disrupting traffic.
To tackle a possible flood situation in Bansadhara river at Kashinagar, a 25-team of ODRAF personnel had been camping there under the leadership of NDRF Inspector Chandeswar Prasad since September 20.
