Bhubaneswar: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has disqualified Sumit Kumar, a member of the Odisha Ranji Trophy squad, from playing in any domestic tournament for two years.
BCCI disciplinary committee took action against Sumit for producing multiple age certificates.
The certificates he had produced while playing at the junior level in 2015-16 don’t match with the ones he furnished for the senior team.
Sumit, a left-handed batsman who bowls off-breaks, had travelled to Vadodare where Odisha launch their Ranji campaign against Baroda from January 5.
Odisha’s senior selection committee has named Tarani Sa as Sumit’s replacement for the match against Baroda.
Odisha’s second match will also be on the road, against Madhya Pradesh in Indore from January 12.
