Bhubaneswar: Apprehending possible floods in Odisha due to heavy rainfall for the past three days, the state government on Tuesday directed the district collectors to be prepared for rescue and relief works.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena wrote to the collectors, saying there may be waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas due to rising water levels in major rivers and their tributaries, .
Jena directed the collectors to promptly evacuate people and shift them to safer places in case of flooding and provide them with cooked/dry food and other basic necessities in line with the government’s relief guidelines.
He also said manpower and machinery should be kept ready for immediate restoration of roads damaged by floods.
