Bhubaneswar: The number of beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar will be increased to 40.
This was stated by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, who is the chairperson of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (Patient Welfare Committee) of the hospital, after a meeting of the committee on Tuesday.
Sarangi said it was decided at the governing body meeting of the committee to increase the number of beds in the ICU from the present 16 to 40. The additional 24 beds would be provided soon, she added.
Stating that several important decisions were taken at the meeting, she said the number of dialysis sittings would also be increased. “At present, the Capital Hospital is handling 1,432 dialysis cases everyday. As per the hospital’s present bed capacity, dialysis is conducted in three sittings in each bed on daily basis. It has been decided to increase the sittings per bed to four,” she said.
Besides, the Mission Shakti Cafe in the hospital campus, which has remained closed for some time, would be reopened and handed over to an SHG. The ongoing construction works of the hospital would also be speeded up for early completion, the MP said.
Among others, Ekamara MLA, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA, Khurda collector and senior officials of the Capital Hospital attended the meeting.
