Berhampur: If you are a voter in Berhampur and wondering how to find out your polling booth for elections to the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on March 24, help is at hand.
Rather, help is in your hand.
The Ganjam district administration has launched a new initiative for voters to find out their polling booths in the BeMC elections.
The administration has included the “Know your booth” option in the existing SAFA app, which was launched by it to provide different civic services in urban areas, including those provided by the BeMC, such as garbage pickup requests and booking Kalyan Mandap, among others.
“Now voters in the BeMC area can know their booth location from the SAFA app and cast their vote smoothly,” said election officer for the BeMC-cum-Sub-Collector (Berhampur) V Keerthi Vassan.
He said voters can enter their voter ID or the Electors Photo Identification Card (EPIC) number to know their polling booth. There is also the option of getting the Google map location and travel route through the app, he said.
Vassan said ward-wise booths can also be accessed through the app. The SAFA app can be downloaded from Google Play Store, he added.
Over 2.55 lakh voters, including over 1.27 lakh women, will exercise their electoral right in 250 polling booths to elect the new Mayor and 42 Corporators. Among them, several electors are first-time voters. As the number of wards has increased this time and ward delimitation has been done, voters in general are facing difficulty in finding their polling booths.
“We hope voters in the BeMC area will use this app and come in large numbers to exercise their franchise on voting day, he added.
