Puri: A tourist from West Bengal went missing while taking bath in the sea near Swargadwar in Odisha’s Puri town on Sunday.
He has been identified as Ujwal Das (23) of 24 Parganas.
According to sources, Ujwal was swept away in the strong water currents while taking bath at the sea this morning. Lifeguards deployed at the spot are searching for the missing youth using Jet Ski. Till the filing of this report, he was yet to be traced.
With a day to go for Snana Purnima for the Lords of Jagannath Temple, lakhs of devotees are expected to congregate at Puri to witness the ritual. People have appealed to the administration to make arrangements to ensure the safety of the tourists visiting the Pilgrim Town during this period.
Notably, six persons have drowned in the sea in the past three months.
