Berhampur: The Anti-Ragging Committee and Discipline Committee of the Binayak Acharya College rusticated 12 students seen in the alleged ragging video, which had gone viral. They have been issued transfer certificates (TCs).
“The committee recommended Compulsory College Living Certificate (CLC) to all Plus III students seen in the video in a meeting on Thursday,” informed college principal Pramila Khadanga.
Among the 12 accused students, three were arrested by police following a probe on the basis of the viral video and two minor students were detained and later produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Those arrested have been identified as Abhisekh Nahak aka Bunty (22) of Berhampur Shantinagar, a Plus II second year of the institute, Sridhar Nahak (19) of Gurumurti Pentha and Aditya Kumar Sahu (20) of Laxmivihar.
Berhampur SP Sarbana Vivek M along with Badabazar officer-in-charge Prashant Bhupati went to the college on Thursday and held discussions with the principal. A complete report was collected after the identification of 12 students in the video.
In the video, the accused were seen abusing a Plus II first-year girl student. While they snatched her bag and mobile phone, one of them was also seen kissing her hand in front of other students of the college.
The SP had also recommended the college to rusticate those arrested and suspend others involved in the incident for a year.
