Bhubaneswar: Amid the COVID-19 upsurge, the Commissionerate Police has formed special teams for strict implementation of the safety protocols and 14-day Mask Abhiyan, announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Bhubaneswar DCP (Security) Nirmala Satpathy told the media that around 20 teams have been tasked to enforced the mask-wearing norm at crowded places and busy markets here.

Police personnel in plainclothes will conduct raids to nab violators of the norm, he added.
DCP Umashankar Dash said that CCTV footage will also be checked and fine collected from violators in accordance with the new rule.
On Friday, the Odisha government had doubled the penalty amount for not wearing a mask from Rs 1000 to Rs 2,000 for the first two violations and Rs 5,000 for subsequent offences.
