Bhubaneswar: Roads looked deserted in several parts of Odisha as various political parties supported the farmers in their call for Bharat Bandh protesting the Centre’s new farm laws on Tuesday.
Protesters held picketing at the railway stations and bus stops in Rourkela, Rayagada, Bhubaneswar and many other parts of the state.
Vehicular movement was disrupted on several routes as the agitators blocked them by burning tyres.
The farmers and political activists also resorted to “rail roko”, that affected the movement of trains in Odisha.
Protests were seen against the farm laws at the Master Canteen Square, railway station and Jaydev Vihar Square in the state capital.
“The BJP government is against the farmers. If Narendra Modi believes in democracy, he must repeal the new farm laws,” CPI leader Narayan Reddy was quoted.
