One question that is bothering JEE candidates is whether the exam will be conducted as per the schedule on Wednesday when central trade unions have called for 24-hour Bharat Bandh.
A total of 11.18 lakh candidates are appearing for the ongoing exam, which began on January 6. A communication from National Testing Authority (NTA), which is conducting JEE Main 2020 for the January session, would have cleared all apprehensions. However, it has issued no clarification on it so far.
Last month, the trade unions had written to Union Human Resource and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank requesting him to postpone the exams on January 8, but the letter failed to elicit any response.
If the NTA decides to go ahead with the exams, thousands of students may fail to make it to the examination centres.
The exam is being held at 567 centres in 231 cities.
In states like Odisha, buses would remain off the road and public transport in general would remain paralysed. This would put the students in a lot of trouble while trying to reach the examination centres.
JEE-Main is a sought-after national level entrance test for admission to engineering institutes. It also acts as a screening test for those who wish to sit for the JEE-Advanced for admission to IITs.
The BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh government has already postponed the teacher eligibility test scheduled for tomorrow.
Utkal University has also postponed its scheduled exam.
Meanwhile, The Indian Council of Agriculture Research said the exam, which was scheduled for January 8, will be conducted on January 11 due to Bharat Bandh.
