New Delhi: If you are boarding an Indigo or a GoAir flight from Delhi Airport’s T2 terminal for Bhubaneswar, you can head straight for the boarding area without going to visit the check-in-counters.
T2 terminal on Friday introduced the ‘express security check facility’ for passengers who are travelling without check-in baggage, said the airport operator in a statement.
How does this facility work:
Once you reach the T2 departure terminal, you can get a boarding pass from the newly- installed ‘self-service kiosk’ or through web check-in and head straight for the express security check lane for security checks in the boarding area.
Keep in mind, this facility is only available for passengers who are not carrying any check-in baggage.
According to GMR-managed Delhi International Airport Limited, 30 per cent of the daily 45,000 passengers in T2 terminal do not carry check-in luggage with them.
Benefits for Bhubaneswar-bound passengers:
Indigo and GoAir operate all their Bhubaneswar-bound flights from T2 terminal.
Benefits for airlines and passengers:
The long queue at the check-in counters will reduce considerably, thereby helping the people manning the counters to handle rush hours more efficiently. The airlines can ensure on-time performance and passengers need not panic if they report late.
Passengers, particularly frequent flyers such as government officials, business, and corporate travellers will immensely benefit from the facility, as this will save their precious time before boarding the aircraft. The new process will also benefit the airlines by improving their on-time performance (OTP).
