Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed city’s prominent medicine shops for alleged violation of social distancing norms.
According to BMC, the shops were found violating the norms during a heavy turnout of customers on Friday.
As the state government extended the lockdown till July 31, people were seen crowding the shops with social distancing going for a toss.
“The shops have been closed for violation of lockdown measures and directives issued for COVID-19 management as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions,” said BMC officials.
On Monday, Bhubaneswar reported 124 more coronavirus positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the district to 1043.
