Bhubaneswar Gets Another Dedicated COVID Hospital

Bhubaneswar: Aditya Ashwini Hospitals at Chandrasekharpur was added to the list of COVID Hospitals (DCH) in the Odisha capital on Monday, taking the total to three.

The new DCH has 150 beds, including 30 ICU beds and 21 high dependency unit (HDU).

The other two hospitals – KIMS COVID Hospital has 500 beds including 45 ICU beds and IMS-SUM Hospital has 525 beds with 25 ICUs.

These facilities are meant to treat serious and critical COVID-19 patients.

In addition, the COVID Health Centre (CHC) at Urban Community Health Centre, Patia, has 60 beds for the treatment of mildly symptomatic individuals. Another 50 will be added soon to UCHC at Dumduma area under this category.

Similarly, the city also has COVID Care Centres (CCC) for asymptomatic and very mild symptomatic patients. While the High-Tech Medical has 550 beds under this category, the SIDBI Jaydev Vihar has 40 beds to treat such patients.

Besides, COVID Care Homes (CCHs) are being planned for three administrative zones of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area and these will be developed with the contribution from the MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) funds. These CCHs will have 50 beds each.

Sources in BMC also informed that various resident welfare associations, non-government organisations and religious bodies have also agreed to set up COVID Care homes in the near future.

With 1,400 tests being conducted in a day, more and more cases are being detected from various health-care centres and mobile testing centres across the city. These DCH, CCC, CHC and CCH with the combined strength of 3,521 will help to serve the growing number of COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar touched 2150 on Monday with an overnight addition of 159 new patients. The virus has so far claimed 12 lives in the city. On the other hand, 1011 patients have recovered from the infection.
