Bhubaneswar & Cuttack Record Below Normal Night Temp; Hail@40Kmph Likely In 3 Districts Till Tomorrow Morning

Bhubaneswar: The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded below normal night temperature in the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.

The mercury dropped to 18.8 (-1.5) and 18.5 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, respectively. The cities had recorded day temperature of 30.2 and 30 degree Celsius.

According to the weather agency, light rainfall occurred at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Deogarh districts during this period. Raighar recorded the highest rainfall of 5 mm followed by 3.4 mm at Phulbani in Kadhamal.

The MeT office has also issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, and Sonepur and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Bargarh, Nuapada, and Balangir, till 8.30 am on Wednesday.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely at one or two places in North Interior Odisha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nabarangpur districts.

The state is likely to experience alternate dry and wet spells during the remaining six days. Light rain may occur at one or two in Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput districts on February 29 and again at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj on March 4.

It further said that there will be no large change in the night temperature during next 4 to 5 days. The day temperature is likely to rise in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and hover around 33-34 degree Celsius during the next seven days. A similar trend is also likely at other places in the state.
