Balasore: Eight persons sustained critical injuries as the bus in which they were travelling overturned after being hit by a speeding truck on the National Highway near Shantia bypass at Jaleswar in Odisha’s Balasore district early on Friday.
According to sources, the accident took place around 2.45 am when the bus was en route to Kolkata from Bhubaneswar. The injured have been admitted to the CHC at Jaleswar.
The driver of the bus, Manoj Kumar Nayak, told the media that the vehicle was hit by the truck when it slowly down at a speed-breaker, about 1 km after Jaleswar. He then lost control over the wheels and the bus dashed into the barricade and overturned under the impact of the collision.
Police have reached the spot and seized the truck. Further investigation is underway.
