Bhubaneswar: The capital city witnessed a jump of more than 100 daily COVID-19 cases as 293 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours.
The city had reported 187 COVID positive cases on Saturday, 213 cases on Friday, 229 on Thursday, 170 on Wednesday, 197 on Tuesday and 168 on Monday.
The fresh cases included 35 from quarantine and 225 local contacts, according to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Among the local contacts, maximum 33 cases were reported from Patia, followed by 10 each from Khandagiri and Nayapalli and 8 each from Bhimtangi, Unit VI and Lasmi Sagar.
While 252 patients have recovered from the disease during the period, the number of deceased has remained at 990 with no more death reported in the last 24 hours.
The city now has 3,344 active cases while the affected tally has touched 10,6,559, the BMC added.
