Bhubaneswar: The surge in COVID-19 cases continued in the Odisha capital with 267 new infections being reported in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total to 7599 on Monday.
Among them, 153 are quarantine and 114 local contact cases.
Barring one with travel history, all quarantine cases are contacts of previous patients. Ten of these cases have been reported from ITER campus and five more from two private hospitals in the city.
The local contact cases include eight from Jharpada, four from Khandagiri and one from ITER campus.
“Further contact tracing is on. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised. These will be under active surveillance,” the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweeted.
The civic body also informed about 174 more patients recovering from the infection.
With 33 deaths and 4563 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 2994 active cases.
