Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch, which forwarded the sex racket kingpin couple Anjali and Ibrahim to court on Wednesday, has begun the process for their deportation to Bangladesh.
“The process for the deportation of Ibrahim, Anjali and the six detained Bangladeshi women will begin soon in consultation with the Bangladeshi embassy,” an STF told the media on Thursday.
The STF official said the Centre has decided to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the country very soon. Accordingly, steps have been taken to keep a close watch on the activities of Bangladeshi nationals in Odisha, he added.
He said during the raid on the house of Ibrahim and Anjali at Danagohiri block in Pipili, STF found that the couple had acquired several properties, including a farmhouse, with a total value of more than Rs 1.5 crore.
The STF official informed that Ibrahim was earlier arrested for illegal gun trade and there will be a thorough investigation in the case.
After busting the Bangladeshi sex racket in the city, STF began an investigation into infiltration by Bangladeshi nationals on the basis of fake Aadhaar cards and other documents.
