Bhubaneswar: An engineering student of Bhubaneswar was killed while five others sustained critical injuries in an accident near Agasti Nuagaon on the national highway in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Debaraj. According to sources, six youths, identified as Suraj Kumar Mahanta, Sarvesh Mahanta, Sanwaaz, Arka Sarkar, Kumar Janmajay, went to Gopalpur on a picnic on Sunday. However, the brakes of their car, bearing registration number OD 02 BW 4276, allegedly failed due to which it dashed against the divider and crashed into a truck.
As a result, Debaraj was killed on the spot while other five persons were rushed to a sub-divisional hospital in Chhatrapur and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in critical condition.
