Bhubaneswar: The International Sculptures’ Symposium was inaugurated by R Balakrishnan, Chief Advisor, Chief Minister’s Office, at Kala Bhoomi here on December 15.
During the 15-day long symposium, 16 artists from abroad and India will craft sculptures of 8 to 10 ft height, to be showcased at prominent places for beautification of the capital city during the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023.
Artists from countries like the USA, Italy, Korea, Egypt, France are participating in the sculptures’ symposium, along with sculptors from Odisha and other states.
The symposium, being organised by Lalit Kala Academy, Odia language, Literature & Culture Department, Bhubaneswar Development Authority and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), is part of the third edition of Street Art and Murals Project (STAMP 3.0) in the state capital, initiated by BMC.
Under this project, renowned artists of the state as well as those of national and international repute engaged by Odisha Lalit Kala Academy, will give a new look to the city’s walls with Odisha’s street art and murals.
STAMP 3.0 will be a platform where Odisha’s art and culture will be showcased for visitors travelling to Bhubaneswar from across India and different countries during the Men’s Hockey World Cup, to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.
Among other dignitaries present at the inauguration were Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas, Additional Commissioner, BMC; Padma Shri and international sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, President, Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi; Shyam Sundar Pattnaik, noted sculpture artist; Panchanan Samal, Secretary, Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi.
