Bhubaneswar: The popular ‘Khao Gali’, the street food court near Ram Mandir in Unit 3 which was declared ‘Clean Street Food Hub’ by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) later year, was shut down by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) over lack of adequate cleanliness and violation of other civic norms.
Following a surprise visit by Mayor Sulochana Das on Wednesday, the vendors and traders were asked to close the shops after it was found that they had rented out their commercial space to other vendors and were not maintaining proper hygiene and cleanliness.
They have been asked to give an undertaking to BMC to abide by the rules specified to run their business on the stretch by Thursday failing which stringent action will be initiated against them.
