Bargarh: BJP candidate Ashok Panigrahi on Friday filed his nominations for the ensuing by-election to the BIjepur Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district scheduled on February 24.
Panigrahi filed his nominations before the Returning Officer at the office of Sub Collector in Padmapur in the presence of senior party leaders including Odisha Pravari Arun Singh, State party president Basant Panda, leader of BJP Legislature Party KV Singhdeo and Padmapur BJP MLA Pradip Purohit.
Besides, well-known Ollywood actors and BJP members Mihir Das and Anu Choudhury were also present.
Prior to his filing nominations, a public meeting was held at the Goru Market at Padmapur in the morning. Later a procession was taken to the office of the Sub-Collector where Panigrahi filed his nominations.
Elaborate security arrangements were made at Padmapur with deployment of three platoons of armed police force under direct supervision of Bargarh SP Jugal Kishore Banoth.
