Bhubaneswar: Biju Babu had dreamt of making Odisha a frontline state of the country. The fitting tribute to him would be to join hands and work towards building a prosperous Odisha. This would be a fitting tribute to the visionary leader on his birth anniversary, said BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Addressing a state level function organised by the BJD at its party office here to observe the 21st death anniversary of legendary leader Biju Patnaik, the Chief Minister said, “Biju Babu had always fought for the cause of women and the downtrodden. His contribution to development of Odisha as a progressive state is unparallel.
The meeting was attended by tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MP Prasanna Patsani, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Mohanty, Debi Prasad Mishra and other senior party leaders.
Earlier in the morning, the party leaders had observed ‘Tila Tarpan’ ritual in the memory of Biju Patnaik near Bindu Sagar at Old Town here.
