Bhubaneswar: With the House being adjourned till 4 pm, BJP MLAs walked down to Lower PMG to join BJP Yuva Morcha, which took out a massive rally in in Odisha capital as part of its plan to gherao the Assembly.
Besides a CBI probe into Health Minister Naba Das case, they are demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Speaking to the media, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra said that the government is yet to answer the questions raised by the legislators in connection with the alleged murder of Health Minister Naba Das. “The CM only reading out from papers prepared by someone else. The debate in the House also yielded little results,” he said.
While questioning the government’s reluctance to hand over the case to CBI, he claimed that attempts are being made by police to declare the murder accused, Gopal Das, mentally ill. “How will FBI help in the investigation when Gopal has already been made to undergo several tests,” he said.
A member of the party’s youth wing said that the Crime Branch has not been able to ascertain the motive even a month after the murder. “The agency has failed to crack almost all cases transferred to it,” he alleged.
State BJP Yuva Morcha president Irasis Acharya had earlier said the protest will continue till completion of the probe into the murder of Naba Das.
As a counter to the BJP protest, women’s wing of BJD staged a protest in front of Raj Bhavan against Centre’s step motherly attitude to Odisha. The blamed the BJP lawmakers from Odisha for discontinuation of PMAY for the people of the state.
