Dhenkanal: BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday fired a fresh salvo at the Naveen Patnaik government in Odisha, accusing it of destroying democracy in the State and running a “baburaaj”.

Addressing a ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally here, he alleged that the “CM has created a system of governance that has sidelined the elected representatives. Instead, it is the bureaucrats that are running the government”.

Drawing attention to the recent killing of BJP leaders Manguli Jena and targetting the ruling party, he said: “They cannot intimidate and silence us”.

“The Naveen-led government is involved in mining scam and is hand in glove with the chit fund scam accused. If BJP is voted to power, we will end corruption and send all accused to jail,” he said.

The BJP national president also criticized the BJD government for refusing to implement the Ayushmaan Bharat scheme in Odisha and said that it feared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rising popularity.

Listing out the achievements of the centrally-sponsored schemes and establishments of IIT and IIM in the State during the Narendra Modi regime, Shah said, if voted to power, the BJP government will provide potable drinking water to all households in Odisha by 2022.
