Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha on Wednesday announced Abanti Das as its candidate for by-election to Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district.
At present, Das holds the post of block chairperson post of Tihidi. She has also vast experience in women SHGs under Mission Shakti programme of the state government.
Earlier in the day, the Congress announced Baba Harekshruna Sethi as its candidate while BJP has fielded Suryabanshi Suraj, the son of Bishnu Sethi whose demise necessitated the byelection.
The byelection to the Assembly constituency is scheduled to be held on November 3.
