Kendrapada: The Biju Janta Dal (BJD) has suspended one of its block presidents in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on disciplinary ground.
Kendrapada district president of BJD Utkal Keshari Parida, in an official letter on Friday, suspended Sasank Sekhar Parida, president of Garadpur block under Patkura Assembly constituency.
As per reports, the BJD decided to suspend Sasank following a complaint by a member of the women wing of the party that the block president had made an indecent proposal to her. An audio recording of the incident has gone viral in social media.
The woman had filed a complaint against Sasank at Kendrapada police station alleging that the block president had made some lewd remarks over phone while talking to her.
The woman leader also alleged in her complaint that Sasank had been showing indecent gestures towards her for the last several days and threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone. After consulting her husband, she had informed Patkura MLA Sabitri Agrawal’s son Sanjay Agrawal.
As the party did not take any action against Sasank, the woman decided to lodge the complaint in the police station, the sources said.
