Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said that his party will go alone in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, beginning April 11.
“We have decided that we will go alone for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. We will have no alliance with any party for the polls,” he told the media here.
Asked about the mode of selection of the party candidates for the ensuing elections, the Chief Minister said that winnability will be the only yardstick for the selection of the candidates.
Notably, the Chief Minister on Monday had said that the process for selection of candidates is on and the final list will be announced very soon.
Asked about the BJD’s poll preparations, the Chief Minister said his party was fully prepared. “The BJD will come out with flying colours in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
Asked how the party will manage retired bureaucrats who are joining the BJD in large numbers, he said: “We will manage well.”
