Bhubaneswar: With Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extending the duration of Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) Jansampark Padyatra till November 15, party leaders and workers carried out the outreach programme in different parts of the state with enthusiasm.
The padyatra, which was scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, was extended as Naveen felt that the programme could not be conducted properly due to different holidays and festivals since it was launched on October 2.
The BJD president wanted the party leaders and workers to make people aware of the various welfare measures of the state government. He has written to all state office bearers, district observers, district, block level presidents, party MPs, MLAs and other leaders in this regard.
The culmination of padyatra will be announced on November 15 after the party leaders and office bearers along with workers would take integrity pledge to work selflessly for the welfare of the state.
On the occasion, Patnaik also asked the party men to make people aware at grassroots level about the welfare programmes of the government.
As the programme was extended, senior BJD leader and Health Minister Naba Kisore Das led the Jansampark Padayatra in Jharsuguda and urged party workers to make people at the grassroots level aware of the welfare and developmental programmes of Naveen Patnaik government.
Thousands of party leaders and workers along with the Minister’s daughter Deepali Das joined the yatra. They took out a rally and undertook a door-to-door to campaign.
Similar programmes were undertaken in Nuapada district under the leadership of Water Resources Minister Tukuni Sahu. A grand rally was also organised in Puri where party workers paid floral tributes at the statue of legendary Biju Patnaik.
