Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Sunday came down heavily on the state government on illegal occupation of Ligaraj temple land in the capital city.
Odisha president of BJP Samir Mohanty, in a release, said corruption in the state administration has penetrated so deep that even the Lord’s properties are usurped by unscrupulous people.
Stating that even Gods are not safe under the misrule of BJD government in the state, Mohanty said it is unfortunate that the land of Lord Lingaraj has been encroached and occupied by illegal means.
Alleging that the government had failed to protect the properties of the deities of the temple, he demanded immediate action to restore the encroached land to the temple.
Earlier in the day, the Khurda district administration stopped the construction work carried out by a privates firm on a piece of land belonging to Lingaraj temple near Bhubaneswar airport. The administration has sealed the area and put up red flags there.
As per reports, the 20-acre land was illegally transferred in the name of two people in 2016 and later, one of them sold his share to a private organisation.
